DIRECT SERVICE VOLUNTEERS - Ongoing or event-based
Job Readiness Training Volunteers: ASAP hosts a week-long Job Readiness Training to prepare new clients for their job search. Volunteers facilitate afternoon breakout sessions with clients to practice a variety of skills and strategies ranging from practicing American small talk to conducting mock interviews. Volunteers can sign up to assist with the next training here.
Informational Interviews: ASAP is actively recruiting professionals to conduct 45-minute informational interviews with asylum seekers that share similar employment backgrounds. There is no volunteer obligation beyond the interview. Professionals can sign up to assist with the next training here.
ADMINISTRATIVE VOLUNTEERS - Project-based
Administrative volunteers help us meet the everyday demands required of nonprofit management. Administrative volunteers are assigned to work on projects as their time and expertise allows. Past projects have included communications assistance, grant writing, event planning, and graphic design. ASAP also offers internships to local university students. Email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
PROFESSIONAL VOLUNTEERS - Client-based
ASAP functions as the primary point of contact for professional volunteers interested in working with asylum seekers in a pro-bono capacity. ASAP works with physicians and mental health professionals willing to document evidence of torture and other human rights abuses to help our clients prepare their asylum claim.
