My favorite part of the training were all the volunteers who gave us their time to help us.
— Ms. S, IT professional from Ethiopia and ASAP client

Job Readiness Training Volunteers

ASAP hosts a week-long Job Readiness Training to prepare new clients for their job search. Volunteers facilitate afternoon breakout sessions with clients to practice a variety of skills and strategies ranging from practicing American small talk to conducting mock interviews. Volunteers can sign up to assist with the next training below.

Mock Interviews

Meet one-on-one with clients to help them prepare for their phone or in-person interviews.

Community Events

Attend one of our upcoming events to engage with clients, volunteers, staff, and other members of the ASAP community. Previous events have included a Thanksgiving dinner, a Valentine's Day celebration, and a Spring Breakfast.

Project-based Opportunities

Numerous skilled professionals help us meet the everyday demands required of nonprofit management. Interested professionals are assigned to work on projects as their time and expertise allows. Past projects have included event planning, communications assistance, photography, video production, and graphic design. If you would like to offer your skills, email us at joan@asylumprojectdc.org.

We love all types of fundraising! With a little effort and a lot of enthusiasm, hosting an ASAP fundraiser can be a lot of fun and very rewarding. Here are a few ideas to help you get started:

  • Ask for donations instead of birthday gifts

  • Encourage young children to open a charity lemonade or hot chocolate stand

  • Add ASAP to your wedding gift registry

  • Run a 5K, half marathon, marathon or participate in a walk or triathalon

  • Host a book club fundraiser
